Hospice Bereavement Services: Are They All They Can Be?

Bereavement services are a new focus area for surveyors. Assessing the regulations, resources, training and documentation to remain compliant is paramount. Although bereavement services are a core hospice service, hospices can be challenged by how to fully implement meaningful and individualized bereavement services for patients and families. Hospices may experience a knowledge gap in regard to a fully realized and compliant bereavement program. In this webinar, the presenter hopes to provide hospice tips and tools to expand their bereavement programs beyond simply the regulatory requirements to ensure individualized bereavement services for patients and families.

Myron Earl Cloyd (Moderator)
Myron Cloyd has over 30 years of experience in ministry. As a clinically trained chaplain he worked with a variety of institutions in the Texas Medical Center including as a Chaplain Supervisor for Methodist Hospital and as the Director of Pastoral Care for the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center. In addition to his work in chaplaincy, Dr. Cloyd served as Senior Pastor for Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ for over 15 years.
He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Texas Christian University, Master’s of Divinity degree from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center, and Bachelors degree Morehouse College. He has also been selected twice as a Wesley Theological Fellow studying at the Theological Union at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. Myron has served as the chairperson of the Professional Advisory Group for the Department of Chaplaincy at both the Micheal DeBakey V.A. Medical Center and Houston Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Cloyd is recognized for his work in the community providing education on end of life issues.
