Ethics in Hospice
Recorded On: 10/21/2020
Ethics are central to hospices and palliative care. Creating and adhering to a code of ethics requires an ongoing, collaborative effort by the entire hospice team. Ethical issues can also be symptoms of more serious legal issues, and therefore require constant review and management. A systemic approach to ethics improves operations, patient care, and regulatory compliance.
In this webinar, we will introduce ethics as an organizational framework that is driven by ongoing dialog. We will also identify the most common legal issues that overlap with ethical dilemmas. Finally, we will explore how to approach common ethical isses in patient referrals, patient care, and documentation and billing.
Topics covered in this webinar include:
- Creating an organizational framework to guide ethical decision-making
- Distinguishing between ethical issues and legal issues
- Common ethical and legal issues pertaining to patient referrals, patient care, and documentation and billing
